The Tennessean

Heather Lawson kicks things up a notch with "Woke Up More"
"Heather Lawson, ... powerful, versatile voice...colorful, punchy...the ticket is that voice which can cradle a song or muscle it out over a loud wall of power guitars. Lawson's ready to get the show on the road.  She can rock at a fever pitch."

"One of the few truly inspiring voices left unsigned to a major label in Nashville."

For many in the Nashville publishing world, Heather Lawson is already a very familiar name as a demo singer with a penchant for emotional dexterity.  Oh man, this girl can sing.  She's also started to get recognized outside of the confines of Music Row, earning a European debut in 1999 at the famed Montreux Jazz Festival, and since returned to their main stages in subsequent years.  When she belts it out, she comes across as an unearthly amalgamation of Ann Wilson from Heart, Linda Ronstadt, and Jonell Mosser.
...She possesses serious blues power, rock energy and a mild R&B sheen on the up-tempo songs... visceral presentation when she really goes for the notes... this is a standout local record from the opening notes of "Freedom Train," with its ultra-hip melodies and monstrous chorus.  Other outstanding tracks are the early-80's-style pop number "Where Are We Now" and mellow, yet insistent, "Sail the Ride."
Production values are high, and Lawson's talents are tremendous... worth picking up to hear a talent that should become a major sensation in years to come.
